Touch up paint
on: August 07, 2020, 04:55:43 PM
Specifically looking for the 2015 Gun Metal Black. I've been unable to find any touch up paint. Does anyone know of any comerically available paint that might be close? This will be in an inconspicuous area so I really don't want to spend the money to have custom paint mixed, I'm already $1200 into crash repair expenses.thanks

Unfortunately they don't have paint for 2015 X. They have it for cb500F and cbr500r but not the X.

The paint is as thin as paper on these flat black bikes you only have to look at it and it comes of and it looks like they used a white undercoat ???? great .

Is that the same as Matte Gunpowder Black NH-436M?

get the code off the bike and bring it to the dealer he should have a book with all the paint codes listed-if he says not available have him call his parts coordinator they know what's available

Thanks for your responses.  80% of the paint on my tank is good. I've repaired a dented area most of which is under the cowling anyway. I was trying to avoid spending $50-$60 for a can of paint and really just looking for a $5 can of something reasonably close. What I'll probably do is just put a sticker or some vinyl wrap over the area where new paint meets old paint. A new 2015 tank is close to $400 which ain't happening. I should come out for $10 worth of paint and stickers some old leftover Bondo.

Oh just thought you needed a little touch up paint-well now what you need to do is bring the tank to a auto paint store a good  one will have a gun like tool they place on the paint and gives them a code-years ago I needed some paint for a BMW wheel set that if ordered would take 6 weeks from Germany did the tool thing and the code was the same as a color from Krylon srpay paint - made something hard to something easy
