Nice. Do they let you load into small spaces when already filled with cars?

Usually we’re more efficiently parked, bikes load first, and are unloaded first, for not that much fare. When it’s not busy, it looks like the photo. Otherwise we’re more jammed in.

We've taken the Port Townsend ferry once, car with camper. It was expensive, but a nice adder to our vacation. Their queuing method was well organized, but I couldn't see a way for bikes to arrive late and load on a standby basis, meaning fitting in after all the cars are loaded. Sounds like they have dedicated space instead.

Beautiful area to ride. Enjoy.

If you roll up at the last minute, they usually squeeze you on at the stern. Each ferry terminal treats bikes differently, based on their dock location. But all docks do provide preferential boarding for bikes before cars, if you’re there on time.

Just for fun, a photo taken at the coffee shop next to the Coupeville to Port Townsend ferry during a weekend ride 40 years ago. Two BMWs and a Yamaha RD350, all with genuine garbage bag motorcycle luggage, parked next to a Corvette. Compared to the same spot today on Google Streetview, it looks the same. The coffee shop is still there.

That's great. Thanks for sharing, a few of them haven't changed much over the years.
