New Guy from Tejas
on: August 14, 2020, 05:04:40 PM
I just bought  new to me CB (in the best color!) and relocated it to central Texas. So far I'm loving it. I come from bigger bikes and for the past 9 years my primary ride has been an 1150gsa. Hopefully the CB will change that because the ol' Panzer bike is mighty heavy off road. I have trust issues so I didn't buy the CB until I could do so without selling the BMW. Many bikes have come and gone over the years but that old BMW remains....

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from my first day of riding it about.

Thanks! Seems like a nice place (which is getting hard to find on the interwebs these days).

Welcome!  What year is your bike?  I like the look of your tires - 17"?

It's a 2016. I think that's the only year they sold this color scheme.

The tires are both 17" but the front is a TKC 80 in the standard size and the rear is a 170(!) series Shinko 805. I think the PO put it the 170 series on because it has the smallest outside diameter. Of that 805 rear tires anyway.

Welcome, Veriest,

I'm in NE Tejas and my oldest son bought me a '14 X almost two years ago.  The first year, I put about 13K miles on it, not so much the second (Covid) year.  :009:  This same son rode my X and liked it so much he bought one for himself, but he also has a 1200RT? beamer he usually rides.  Now, my youngest son has bought an X as well.  BTW they are all '14's.

My sons live in Georgetown and Round Rock.  Maybe we'll run into one another some day in the Hill Country!

2018: '14 CB500X, The dream bike of my youth!  Thanks, Son

That's a distinct possibility... if we haven't already. I was real active in the North and Central Texas motorcycle communities before we had kids 6 years ago.
