Hello from Thailand - CB500X 2016
on: August 20, 2020, 09:43:21 AM
Happy to join this group and being back in the saddle of my newly acquired CB500X.
Used to drive a lot over the mountains in Switzerland when I was younger - sometimes way too fast and risky.
Survived and learned my lessons ;)

Now, I'm just cruising thru the 'mountains' of North-Thailand with countless curves and crazy steep climbs.
There are amazing 1-day and multiple-day trips around here.

After carefully looking at Versys 650, V-Strom 650 and Tracer 900 (my favorite but too expensive, Tracer 700 not available in Thailand) I think for the windy mountain roads here and for me (175cm / 70Kg) it was the best choice.  I feel really comfortable (can touch easily the ground with both feet) and it feels pretty light and agile.
Honda has low cost maintance and spare parts are widely available in Thailand.

So far so good and I'm very happy, now just the rain can stop me from riding - unfortunately we have rain season now, haha!

Hi, and congratulations on the 500x, a great bike for Northern Thailand. More than capable on mountain roads, comfortable on the highways and a long way between fuel stops. I have an X in Thailand but right now in Australia and don't know when I can get back there. Looks like I will miss the coming cooler season :(

Hey, if you are in Chiang Mai drop by Riders Corner, North East  inside corner of the moat. Great bunch of guys, lots of shared local knowledge and regular group rides. Wednesday nights for Ulysses Club Thailand meeting.
Mostly based in Sydney but keep the 500X in Thailand for frequent visits.
