I shortened the link pipe on mine to give a bit more clearance for the bags

I could shorten mine..its the angling down that would be an issue with the same link pipe..I would need shorter springs also as pipe to link pipe is not a clamp.

Just spoke to local Shad dealer, who then contacted Shad by some 'dealer' means, about the SH23 on 2019/20 bikes. Apparently the problem is not the exhaust but the outward opening lid catching the hand grip rail. I'm guessing that a couple of spacers to mount the 3P mounting kit further out at the front should do it.

Still be useful to have a confirmation from another 2019/20 model owner

And then check my email and amazed to get a reply from Shad UK -

"We offer a 3P Pannier Fitting Kit for the CB500X however, it is only compatible with the SH35 and SH36 panniers.

The SH23 panniers are not compatible with this kit because they are top opening and they foul on the rear grab rails.

Discontinued items are left unavailable for a certain amount of time for informative purposes but they can't be ordered.

Our panniers are compatible with the standard exhaust, we can't confirm if they will fit an after market exhaust."

So I guess I will order the SH23's and mount kit. Spacers and if I buy from somewhere that take returns I may have to go bigger later on

Scorpion Serket Taper is nice but expensive. Not sure about pannier clearance though, yet to try my Honda panniers with it yet.

A friend of mine has the Scorpion on his Ď14, and is running the Honda bags. But I know his Scorpion does come up higher then the stock exhaust on my Ď18 X.

Just to confirm for the record:

Shad SH23 do fit a 2019/20 model. I did not leave the hand grips on and their weight (a few pounds) will have offset the weight of the 3P system. It might have been possible to use the panniers with the grips in place but I did not try

The 23's are mounted close to the body with both panniers an equal distance out

The standard exhaust clears the panniers, as does a Delkevic 350 Oval

A 15.6" laptop does not fit in the panniers even without any cover - however it fits easily in a Kriega US-30 Drypack with an carry case on it.

The SH23 panniers are smaller than they appear in pics

Will put some pics up sometime if I remember
