Nice work BZH.The relay is the way to go. For those of us not as skilled in wiring

easternbeaver.com

has a relay set up for the CB500x and all kinds of good stuff. The prices are good and the quality is better. Worth a look for sure.

Yes, that last (full set at $54) looks like mine, I paid rather more TBH  :156: as I wanted the security of buying via a UK seller on eBay.  I wonder what BMW UK would want for a set for the GS boys!   :033:  If anyone in the UK wants them I can do them at £55 posted First Class and you will have them within 2 days!  They are seriously heavy duty and mega, mega bright.

SOLD.

Excellent write up by BZH thanks for that, I am about to undertake fitting a pair of Daytime running lights, now then I know nothing about electrics, even less about 12v electrics so can someone please explain what a relay is and what it does? thanks in anticipation.

You donít need a relay. Just wire directly to the Honda provided fused switched 7.5 amp supply behind the fairing with a switch on the positive side to the bars as an override.
