Congrats. While they're installing extra bits, I'd get them to throw on some heated grips too. You won't regret it on chilly SanFran mornings, or when you head to the mountains.

Hmm I was thinking about it, although I知 afraid of what they壇 charge for the grips+kit+labor.  I値l ask and find out tomorrow when I drop off the crash bars (I知 going with SW Motech for the accessories, except for BBs & an OEM center stand).

Best,

Zoinks, no way - ~$600 for the OEM heated grips + installation.  I think I'll manage with Barkbusters and warm gloves this winter, and maybe invest in heated grips (and install them myself) next year if warranted.

I opted for OEM heated grips and installed them. Expensive and difficult, but very appreciated for all riding 60 F and below. I use them much more often than I planned to.

Jeesh. I had the OEM grips installed by a Honda mechanic, and I remember it costing closer to $250. That was 5 years ago, so maybe I've suppressed the actual cost in my mind. It was also in the Midwest and not in San Fransisco, which could be part of the difference too.

As it's $350 for the grips+install kit alone, $150-250 for labor is in the ballpark at least.  Still too expensive for now though - I'd rather spend the money on classes since I'm a returning rider.

Yeah reading folks' reports of self-installing the OEM ones does kind of make $150-250 for a professional install seem not so horrible!

I picked up my 2021 CB500X yesterday and took it for a short 20mi spin today - loving it!  :046:

It even saw its first, but definitely not last, dirt (in the form of a pullout at Fort Baker ;):

Now to install the remaining accessories I've been accumulating while waiting for it to arrive :)

That was my thought, too. OEM's controller and plug hide away in the headlight area. However, I had to add a six-pin connector to the harness to allow complete fairing removal. Works well now.
