Side stand access
on: October 20, 2020, 10:32:01 PM
Iíve got a great 2013 model, the only gripe I have is that with a center stand fitted itís very awkward to get to the side stand with your booted foot. Not much space between foot peg and center stand.

Anyone come up with a mod or just love with it?

Had the same problem solved it by extending the side stand tang one inch-a little hard to explain but I found a piece of heavy duty PVC pipe 1/4" I think that just fit over the tang noob on the end -built up the whole tang with duct tape so the PVC pipe fit tight- glued a rubber vacuum plug on the end  of the pipe painted the pipe black and glued it to the duct tape--it looks much better that it sounds works great and has been on the bike over a year no problems

That's some impressive effort, motorboy.

I went with the "live with it" option, with an occasional bit of growling if I miss three times in a row.

He only ever rides in Sling backs.... :001:

I stuck an old Ram Ball on the end of the little 'arm' that sticks out of the side stand. Easier said than done, but works a treat and hasn't fallen off in over three years. I wear winklepickers...

Hi - I'm with motorboy - I too fitted a length of old washing machine water hose over the sidestand tang and pushed it right on to the bottom - drilled a tiny hole through hose and tang to wire it on then filled the hose from the top with 'hard as nails' gloop fitted a large screw head into end of hose let it dry and set then painted it with black enamel - it almost as hard as metal now and works perfectly. will post a pic a little later when I get down the garage.
I can now flick the stand out with my heel (size 8 daytona winklepickers) very easily. Problem solved.
