Am I figuring this correctly?
on: October 27, 2020, 01:18:28 PM
So I went to the Rally Raid Web site to order a skid plate. After filling out the oder form and seeing the taxes, shipping and exchange rate, the skid plate is going to cost $470  :156:. Am I figuring this correctly?

Hi Kenny - why not email them directly and ask them for a definite answer?

Yep, $470. I'm going to take another look at the sw motech plate or maybe reinforce my cheap Chinese skid plate.

I’m all for saving money, but I think there’s a time and place for only spending 50 bucks. I wouldn’t skimp on a bash plate, no matter what dirt road I ‘intend’ to ride on. Case in point:

Yes, unfortunately a large heavy item like the RR engine guard (which for those unaware is a tubular cradle which connects the front of the frame to the rear) is going to cost quite a lot to ship from the UK to the US, as International shipping over a certain physical size is based on volumetric weight (which I trust RR explained to Kenny when he contacted them).

If it's any consolation, RR always try to combine shipping - by including a number of smaller/lighter items inside the packaging of things like the engine guard or wheels [which is another large box of course] at little or no extra cost.

Do you have any British friends or family over here? Might be cheaper if they posted it over?

Might happen, but I doubt. So far I have found RR shipping rates very reasonable.

I've gotten over the sticker shock and have a Rally Raid skid plate on order.  :002:

I would ask them to add the little rear brake master cylinder guard to your order.
