CB500X workshop manual
on: November 10, 2020, 12:45:26 PM
Hi
A simple inquiry really,in search of a workshop manual should I go for a Haynes manual @£20 or go the whole hog and buy the official Honda one for £50.
I've no plans to strip the bike down to it's last nut and bolt, though I do plan on carrying out my own maintenance and adding accessories, etc.

In my opinion the factory manual is not made for the home mechanic where the Haynes is
It's not a big motorcycle just a groovy little motorbike

I'd go for the Haynes manual (specific for your model year) and if you need parts or part numbers use one of the dealers parts fische.

+1 to the Haynes now they’ve updated it to include 19/20 models I’ve found it covers everything I will need to maintain and repair my bike  :152:

A sensible choice IMO. I have both - Haynes & factory manual (I got it cheap of a member here). And although the factory manual has more detailed information in it, I personally find the Haynes manual more practical. It gives tips of how to do things in a more home-orientated setting, including how to do things without special Honda tools, where required.

If you ever go on a trip and feel like you need to bring a manual, then the Haynes one is the one to go for. Half your bag would be taken up by the factory one  :008:

Get the haynes one mate, its been updated for the 2019 models. I have one and i like it. Like others have said, the OEM manual is great for a Honda tech, but rather difficult to use for the home mechanic.

Anybody had any experience with the online version of the Haynes manual? Cheaper and the paper version seems to be out of stock here.

Not sure if you were aware but there's a limited preview available:

https://mole.haynes.com/manualOverview?chapterId=c_17814&sectionId=s_396014#

Advantages are that pics and diagrams are in colour. You can easily print each section as well.

For the print version you can order from the UK website but shipping to Canada is £14.99.
