Spoke to a bloke today about fitting Avon Trekriders to my bike, he said they only make a 170/60 17 in the Trekrider.
They do a 160/60 in the Trailrider
Will the 170 fit my bike? There's a 20mm gap either side

Avon say the 170/60 should be on a 4.5 rim so no issue there ( 2020 500x has a 4.5 wide rim )
the 170 will be 5mm a side wider than the 160 so again no issue if you say there is 20mm a side.
170/60 will be around 12mm diameter bigger than the 160/60 so the bike will be going around 1.3mph faster than it was at a 70mph reading.

Out of curiosity, would they then also fit on older models? Not sure if the rim size changed on the rear after the 2019 upgrade.

From memory you might need to trim a small amount of plastic off the chain guard.

I have run 2 170s yet on my 2018 (Shinko 705 and Michelin Anakee Adventure), no problem of space or any other and it looks sexy. Don't think the 2020 is different.

I can confirm that a 170/60 17 Avon Trekrider will fit

Looks chunky! Thanks for the update. I'd be interested to hear how they handle off-road/gravel. Have you had Trailriders before and, if so, how it compares to that? I've got those at the moment and I was looking at replacing the rear with the Trekrider you've just put on. Can only do the rear, since I have a 2017 model with 17" front wheel.

Never had Trailriders, last time I had Avon tyres was back in 1981 when I had a set of RoadRunners fitted to me 250

Washed the bike today and took some more pics of the TrekRiders
Little bracket might need bending out the way

Look forward to see how you find those tyres on out greasy roads...
Torn between those and Tkc70's..strange how they only do the rocks version for a rear tyre though.
