My CB500X has been moved on to another happy owner

I bought a 2019 SV650 last fall. After putting 11,000 miles on it this year having a blast, a few things happened. One, I fell in love with that happy V-twin motor. Two, I got on my FJR1300 for a long ride and found that I had lost my taste for wrestling heavy bikes around. As fast as it is, it just wasn't much fun to ride. While riding my CB500X on a longish dirt and pavement ride, I kept thinking I really wanted that Suzuki motor in my adventuring bike. All of that put together means I sold my CB-X, my FJR1300 goes on Saturday and I spent the last week putting 1000 break-in miles on my new 2019 V-Strom 650XT Touring. Suzuki incentives and dealer discounts on a leftover meant this bike fully equipped was so cheap I feel like I stole it.

Looks like a nicely set up bike you've got there. That V twin engine is a nice motor.

Good looking bike, that colour really suits the bike and the V-twin is a great engine!!
Red does not seem to be available in the UK, where the website pushes a very loud yellow, plus there are black or blue options. Of these, the black looks the best to me, with those gold wheels and badging.......

Great choice! Have both - CB and Wee (in blue color), it makes me happy twice
And one of the biggest improvement on a Wee was Givi Airflow screen - once adjusted you can smoke cigars while ride.

I think red is a 2019, and 2021, colour for us in the UK.

Could this be the beginning of the end for the SV650/V-Strom V-twin?

Seems like in 2021 there still be Vstroms and SVs with Euro 5 engine. But I think once parallel twin production starts old V twins will be discontinued
And V twins will be more and more exclusive stuff only available on Ducatis and american cruisers.

And Guzzis, and a the Japanese cruisers still seem pretty narrow angle V-twin inclined. I hate to see one of the best engines of all time getting replaced. On the other hand, most of the complaints riders and writers have about Suzukis is that they aren't being "modern" and building what everyone else is building. So that's where we're heading. Parallel twins are cheaper to manufacture and easier to package in the bike. On the other hand it's harder to differentiate your product from the others if it's not really different other than the brand on the tank. We'll see if Suzuki tries to remain the value option. Don't know if they will call it a V-Strom or an SV when there is no more V.
