Anyone taken any of these tests - how difficult was it?
Thanks

It's not that difficult. It's all about getting your brain in gear.Observation, planning ahead, hazard awareness, positioning, positive progress. The IAM or ROSPA observers will give you all the guidance you need during observed rides and when you're riding up to standard you go out with an examiner(usually a Class 1 Police rider, really friendly guys).Practical only,no theory questions.
you'll love it.

Hi Robo,
I joined the IAM in the 90's after I got back into bikes and frightened myself a few times. After the required number of observed rides I successfully took my test.No grades with the IAM.
For my sins after a few years I trained as an observer, eventually becoming a Senior Observer.I'm just a normal guy with no special qualities,it's just wanting to improve your riding and following the guidance.Go for it,I'll guarantee you'll be glad you did.
Shiney side up,sticky side down!

left some detail under the other thread running on advanced riding. Senior observers are now nationally qualified and the standard is very high. I doubt you can get better training anywhere and its real value for money. If anyone needs more info just ask. And its all run by volunteers who care about the safety and skills of their fellow riders.
