My 2017 blew the waterpump at 1800kms. It was a year old so no warranty. Hopping on and old thread. But they are poor quality/design.

Hi.

I am going to leave you my experience with the CB500X 2019.
With 3000Km approx. They changed my water pump because oil was leaking from the drain screw and after a few kilometers the new water pump started to leak oil too, so again Honda is going to change my water pump and I have no confidence that it will be fixed This problem by what other colleagues have commented regarding the deformed shaft that burns the oil seal near the water impeller.
That's it.
Regards.

please replace int coolant to oat or hoat.
best and wise thing to do.
leaks happen because int coolants become corrosive after 2 years
honda says every 3 years . yeah sure . lol

int coolants is 80's technology .
honda does such a good job building these engines and spolis it by putting the worst coolant.

get a multimeter
set it to volts.
place both terminals into coolant
limit is 0.25 -0.30 vvolts.

waste them and get some serious coolant oat or hoat ( 5 -8 years replacing intervals)

value your money and get the best for your bikes.

My 2019 has 4000kms on it and has started leaking oil from the weep hole of the water pump. Mechanical seal failure. Took it to the dealer yesterday and Honda will replace it under warranty. Curious to see how long it will take the dealer to get the parts in and whether or not the new pump will remain dry. Seems like these are just a poor design so knock on wood. Quite disappointing that this issue is still present on the 3rd gen of an otherwise great motorcycle.

the more time passes, the more I think I should never have bought this crap...

No problems of leaking, corrosion, overheating or anything else with the grandma CB500S and his very old coolant fluid!
I bought this bike to tour Europe, but I have a feeling it can't do it... too bad!

My old pump failed with summer heat - now in Madrid we have near 36C and I'm checking coolant level everyday and every week inspecting pump weep hole. Bit screwed with this point - I wanna ride, not worring about sh#tty pump  :138:

However doesn't matter anymore - I decided to sell the bike.
