Mosko Moto Backcountry 35L panniers for Honda cb500x?

Outfitting my first adventure bike (a 2016 Honda CB500X) for long-distance and possible future global travel.

I'm thinking of getting a set of Mosko Moto 35L Backcountry panniers, but am wondering how well it will fit on a medium-sized CB500X? In particular, will there will be clearance issues with the rather large muffler on the right side, and if so, if there's a suggested workaround?

I'll need to purchase a rack for my bike, and my preference is to get something less wide. I'm thinking of either the SW Motech or Hepco Becker rack—can anyone recommend one over the other? Which rack is less wide?

I got a Hepco Becker rack and MoskoMoto 35L backcountry panniers, but there were clearance issues with the OEM Honda muffler. Ended up getting a Coffman's shorty muffler. No clearance issues now, and the bike sounds better, too. I think the Hepco Becker rack is a little wider than a SW Motech rack would have been, but overall I'm really happy with the setup.

Thanks for the info. I have a Coffman's shorty as well. I love the sound and the weight reduction. Think I'm going to try the SW Motech version if they are narrower than the HB.

i'm wondering if yall noticed a difference in fuel mileage once the coffman shorty was installed. I definitely did. went from 4L/100km (59mpg) to almost 6L/100km (39mpg)

A 20mpg drop from an exhaust change? That doesn’t seem right. I had considered that pipe, but not for a drop like that.

I've had the shorty exhaust now for a year.  I have not seen a mileage drop at all, just a bigger smile.
