want to buy a stock side stand.
To fit 2018
Shipped to FL, 34241
going to shorten mine and need a spare to return to stock if needed
(or to replace if I screw it up!)

going to lower it and the stand needs to be shortened

That's exactly why I shortend mine, the bike was too upright after lowering it . I had a pro do the welding and its 100% solid . In fact I pivot the the bike i.e. lift the rear end off the ground using the side stand every time so I can put the center stand down. It's a must do if you're lowering it.

In my opinion the stock side stand (in my 2013) is a little too short. I added a bigger foot which has effectively given more length plus helped on soft ground.
Definitely wait until the suspension is lowered before cutting!
Mostly based in Sydney but keep the 500X in Thailand for frequent visits.

Yes, I've always felt that there's too much lean on the bike when it's on the side stand with the standard setup.
