SW Motech engine/sump guard
on: May 16, 2020, 04:47:33 PM
I fitted one today. Very easy took less than an hour, it's a quality piece of kit. It fits with the standard Honda centre stand, no mods needed.

Many mods may be functional, but don't integrate well with the style. That pan, however, looks great and covers some of the nakedness of the 2019. Exposed exhaust and catalytic converter have always looked unfinished and vulnerable to me. The VStrom is another example. Not that the plastic pan on my 2014 X does any good other than aesthetics.

Mounted SW sump guard as well today and happy with outlook and product. Need to get some more driving hours over the weekend to make the final opinion.

Do any of you notice any engine noise sound reflected back up towards you?
I fitted one on a four stroke single and it sounded like the bottom end was knocking like crazy...there are foam pads to reduce this noise.

Yes I have some engine sound and vibration noise on certain rpm or when accelerating. Very rarely luckily. I was think of foam as well or some thick soft sound insulation paint.

I replaced a gas tank on a Mazda 323 with a non-OEM tank. It fit well, but was bare steel and had no corrosion protection undercoat like the OEM tank. Fuel pump noise was much more noticeable. One can of rocker panel rubberized paint fixed it, but I wish I had known prior to the installation of the tank.

I might try bitumen mat as it is easy to take of if it doesn't work. I suspect there doesn't have to much anyway just a litlle mass to keep the center aluminium plate from vibrating.
