A Lap of the Adriatic
on: May 24, 2020, 08:03:15 PM
This video shows the ride I took on my X last year. I store it at Knopftours in Heidelberg... the tour was as follows

Heidelberg -> Switzerland -> Lake Garda, Italy
    Corsica
    Sardinia
    Southern Italy
    Greece
    Albania
    Montenegro
    Croatia
    Slovenia
    Austria

As a long-time BMW rider, I can't say enough good about this bike (but you already know that!). I like it so much I bought one for here in the USA.

Europe in 10 days ...  :156:
Nice video, you also drove the Großglockner Pass and the Roßfeld Höhenstrasse in Berchtesgaden. Have you been to the Eagles Nest too? What impressed you the most and what was completely foreign to you?

Haha, I wish it *cost* like 10 days! You know, I started out with a goal of a 2-minute video and....

I am not familiar with the Eagles Nest...

Regarding what impressed me the most, I would have to say Croatia... what a wonderful country.

These wasn't anything completely foreign... pretty close, though. Berat, Albania was a town trying to appeal to tourists, but it had a bit of a not-ready-for-prime-time feeling to it.

Much more exploration required throughout the Balkans and Caucasus...

Right now I was *supposed to be* riding my X in the Pyrenees...  :009:

Excellent show, thank you.
I particularly liked the measured use of your videos, most people let them drone on far to long. Really, a great production.

Just damn happy to be here...

Wow! That was a tour! Love all locations and being in many of them (with my car...). Even though my heart stays in Italy...:)
I hope I can bring my X to Italy this year.

Congratulations again for this amazing tour.
V.

I'm not a professional editor, but I have worked zillions of hours with them. Part of my career involved being a Producer.

There's a rule in on-line video, I call it the Tutu Rule: Two minutes is TOO LONG! But as fast-paced as these cuts are, the video still goes for 6 minutes!

imo, the X is the perfect bike for Europe as long as the bulk of your riding is not on the expressways. My rides take me on the microscopic back roads, and the only time I felt the X lacking was trying to pass a big Audi or Merc on a steep incline. Let's just say that a lot of European drivers like to race. With my BMWs, I could just roll on the throttle, but with the X I often found myself pedaling as fast as I could and still had to plan my passes carefully. Let's just say I adapted by taking a slower pace...

You could create a dozen 20 minute vlogs of that trip, and I would watch every one. Great scenery. Thanks.
