Hi Steve,

The subject of off-roading in Scotland has come up before, and everything I've read suggests there are few if any legal off road routes other than those on private land and estates.  I wonder if this is easier up north where you are, as you seem to post some good gravel road trips?

A general quote from an off road biker website states "In Scotland, there is additional legislation, called the Right to Roam which gives the public the right to be on any land for recreational, educational and certain other purposes but it only applies to walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Motorised vehicles are specifically excluded."

I'm just curious, I have no interest in riding off road myself, and I'm not stirring it up in any way!!

ALEX.

edit - now that I think about it, I may have asked you this before!!  Was it forestry tracks?   :087:

Left him eating my dust Swanny  :062:

Alex - I studied the 2005 Land Reform Act when going for a job as the legislation was being enacted so I'm fully conversant with what is and isn't legit when it comes to land access and the right to roam.
I choose to adopt the "open gate" policy when it comes to where and obviously when I make my off road forays.
A lot of what you see in the photo's I put up is down to selective shooting angles. The road may well be right behind me  :158:

Cheers Steve - obviously living near Glasgow, there aren't so many hillside/countryside tracks here anyway, so single track (tarmac) roads are enough for me!!

Steve - a few years ago some friends of mine bought me some land up near one of the Lochs - it came with a title (nice  :001:).

Anyway, you are more than welcome to go and ride on my land whenever you like.  It's only 1 metre square, so you'll need to have good balance, but enjoy yourself.  Just make sure you take any rubbish home with you (says so in the deeds).

you are most welcome
