Thinking of fitting a flyscreen from the 500F
on: June 03, 2020, 03:30:58 PM
I'm considering trying a flyscreen from the CB500F on the X, has anyone tried this? Currently trying to work out if the fixings points are the same.
In warmer weather I think i'd prefer an effectively 'naked' bike.

If you wanted a naked bike, you could have saved some money by buying the F instead of the X!!   :008:

Only joking, I know there are other advantages of the X over the F - there are some posts on here about screens, and one member had removed the screen and supports entirely which would maybe have the effect you are after..... worth a wee search.

I'm certainly not the first person to have done this, but if you cut down the standard screen you get a much cleaner, less buffety ride.  Here's mine - I cut it down with a hacksaw and sprayed it black.  I have since removed the viking compass thing cos I got bored of it.  https://photos.cb500x.com/image/KdrMv

I have a couple of naked bikes so know the benefits and differences well  :002: What I didn't quite bargain for was how difficult it was going to be to get a screen sorted that works for me. I have a Givi on at the moment and it's OK most of the time. There's no definitive answer on screens, what works for one may not work for another.

I think I've read most if not all of those posts and there is no silver bullet in there. Hence my question here, does the 500F flyscreen fit. Get the screen off, clean the airflow up and run it without at least for the summer. A flyscreen will tidy the finish up.

I have this one on my bike - looks good and for me stops the helmet buffeting that I was getting with the standard or high screens.  Recommended!!
