Can I ask, bold of me, how much? I had Ohlins front and rear on my 16 CB500X and the rear shock was $650.
A long answer to a short question!WELL....that reminds me of the old saying' If you have to ask, you can't afford it!'

My quest for a APAR {All Purpose All Roads} bike has been a long and expensive journey over many years. It has not been a static goal, but one that evolved as time, money and age changed. Not the least of which has been the suspension upgrades for my current version, the 2019 CB500X.
The cost for the fork cartridge upgrade was a bit over $900 US plus my labor to remove and install, same for the shock, about 10% less than the retail price as FBI gives discount for doing both. It included the fabrication of the components for my weight/riding style, and adjustments after you get the products installed.
Yes, a great deal of money!
BUT…it is done by someone who has the knowledge, tools and facilities to provide the service.
AND are there to help if/when I need it. Added to the cost of my bike it is still less than one of the other name brand bikes of a similar displacement, and probably a lot
more reliable. Actually, if you think about it, there isn’t anything available to compare with the base model CB500X.
AND.. there are a lot more Honda dealers close by.
As stated previously, the fork seals were leaking, so the fork tubes needed to be removed, and the seals replaced, and I would have added the fork boots either way.
In my over 60 years of riding, I’ve never been able to get the suspension ‘JUST RIGHT’ on any of my many bikes, close sometimes, but never as good as I wanted. Watching the change in technology over the years has amazing. What is now available is far beyond the capabilities of my ‘shadetree’ shop.
What I would really like to see is for the OEMs to offer suspension upgrade options, that could be ordered at time of purchase for their smaller displacement offerings. This would be much more economical for an individual that did not want/need a larger/heavier displacement bike.
Only want to deal with the upkeep and insurance/tax costs for one bike. Prefer to put the money into ONE bike that allows me to spend more time
RIDING! At my age there ain’t that much time left, so want to put it where it counts. . . . hpdl
