I'm of a different mind, having been in motor vehicle technology most of my life and having seen some of the things that can happen to engines it's really important even with modern engines to look after them early on in their life. That first oil change early on is really important, as it clears out any metal residue from manufacturing and running in. Also I change the coolant early on as well, because you will also get metal particles from machining in the waterways, in fact I think there was a picture on here that showed metal particles in a water pump, so I give it a good flush out and renew coolant, in the big scheme of things it's only a few pounds. also I fit a magnetic sump plug you'll be surprised what that picks up. I use Honda type 2 coolant not the pro stuff, buy it from car place a lot cheaper and same spec but different color and about £15 for 5 litre. Well that's my thoughts on looking after my engine, I dare say everybody thinks differently, but that's what makes the world go round.

YES !!!
+1
type 2 is INT or OAT ?
if i remember well its an OAT correct?
i too use toyota's HOAT coolant
for the rest fellow forumers .
im an engineer - car mechanic for 25 years now
apart from this beeing my everyday job its also my beloved hobby.
develop-build-mod-service engines.
im not promoting anybrand of coolant or oil as a fellow said ironicly.....
im giving you some good advicce about things ive seen -studied.
soooo honda says engine oil replacement should be every 12.000 km's
but im changing the oil on all my bikes in less than 6.000 km's
if i tell you to do what i do ...would that make me a promoter of .......... oil brand ?????
forums like this are here to help each other ....
i dont see the reason why one should be ironic.
and last but not least i dont recall advising on a specific coolant brand
