Fuel tank protection
on: July 16, 2020, 02:45:24 AM
I use a magnetic tank bag and keep it clean underneath on the magnet side.
I also use a piece of shelf liner under the bag .
But I am noticing some very minor scratches starting to show on the tank when I remove the bag.

Does anyone know where I can get some clear film to cover the tank  ?
Is there a kit made for the tank ?

Thanks, Doug

Search for "3M VentureShield" You might be able to find an installer with a pattern for the CB500x or they will measure up and make a custom design.

Otherwise you may be able to buy a sheet and make your own.

I covered the centre section on my bike with black vinyl wrap material to cover a chip and provide protection for tanks bags.

I ordered and used this Vinyl Protective Film https://www.giantloopmoto.com/product/vinyl-protective-film/from Giant Loop to keep my Diablo from scratching my tank, which it would do by the time I got out of my driveway  :006:  I think you could probably find something less expensive and Giant Loop sends you about 5 or 6 sheets, as I recall, you only need one - unless you screw it up.

I'm a huge fan of the CB500X, but the paint is decidedly budget, IMO. My 2013 paint not only scratches easily, which I don't really care about, my tank bag straps actually wore right through it. So I bought the vinyl film.

Just damn happy to be here...

Search for helicopter tape...it comes in various sizes, its clear and used to protect the leading edge of helicopter blades so more than up to the job of protecting tank/panels.
3M supply it but there are others

It's called helicopter tape. You can get it off the auction site.
