Driving Lights Installed and they're Fantastic
on: July 29, 2020, 01:28:33 AM
Just got my driving lights installed and used the Honda switch and they came out very well.  The light are all metal and are very bright.  Price was around $70usd off Ebay and came with the woring harness that I had to modify to work with the three terminal plug under the right cowling. Lights will only come on with the high beams on but can be switched off using the Honda switch.

Bike pretty much has to come apart to install the switch and harness.

Very good job  :762:
Some questions  :187:
- Where you buy and what is the code for light button? I have read that it's similar to Africa Twin
- You have unmount all dashboard for install it, or only "crash" plastic of cover button?
- And (last question, I promise  :034: ) where do you have connected AC?

Thanks a lot  :763:

It is the Africa Twin switch, Amazon of all people sell it.
Also a company in the UK called Rugged Roads stock it.
I ended up with three as the Honda dealer was the slowest to supply..around eight weeks.
Rugged Roads stock them and I got it within two days.
Amazon took maybe two weeks.

I'm planning on getting a switch from Rugged Roads (Jonathan and his missus are great folk - former founding members of an old XRV forum).

I'll be using it to fire up another set of LED lights that I've ordered. They'll be fitted onto the Givi light bar thats coming from Stokie  :152: and I'll be wiring them to be on with dipped beam and not just main. I'll be cutting out the main beam feed and feeding in volts from a switched source that will be operating a relay to bring volts from the battery to the lights themselves.

Simple  :007:

It's a one up for me for Rugged Roads, friendly and great service for sure, just had some more stuff from them for my T7 this week and got a few more bits in my list...well, not bits really..rear and side racks.
I had the XRV 650 I had to import from Germany as it was never  a Honda UK official model.

The lights actually come from Amazon.com.  They are a very tight fit and take some patients to install.
