Maintenance and Servicing / fork oil
« on: December 10, 2020, 06:46:19 AM »
Hi all today had to grab a handfull and i mean big handfull of brake and i noticed the front bottomed out pretty easily ,so i have decided to change the fork oil ,anyway my question is the recommended weight is 10w but i can get 15w fully synthetic at almost half price .

Now not being a oil guru how much difference will it make to rebound , handling and overall feeling of the front end . It is a  quality brand what i would use in a 10 w and what i use in my bikes engine fully synthetic  but it is at an amazing price cheers .

CB500X - General Chat / hard starting
« on: August 04, 2020, 11:37:56 AM »
Hi all well as the title suggests just over the last few days i have found it is getting increasingly hard to get the 500 to start turning over ok but not firing up in a short space f time .I have changed the plugs not more than probably a month ago and im running 98 octain fuel ,battery is in new condition replaced around a month ago . I read a post not so long ago and someone mentioned that the injectors can become clogged just wondering if it might pay to run some cleaner through the machine see if it makes any difference ,it has been a bit cool in the morning and it does eventually fire up but this morning it took longer than normal to the point where taking the car was looking as an option ,the plugs are iridium so should be ok any suggestions .

Riding Gear, Clothing, and Apparel / helmets
« on: July 30, 2020, 08:13:15 AM »
Hi all well i have two helmets a oneil sierra 2 and an rjays tour tech 3 some may know the oneil but i think the tour tech is aus only . the oneil has its problems so i decided to wear the rjays anyway much to my disapointment it has a major fogging problem , not so much during the day but on cold mornings you have to ride with the visor up otherwise it is like looking through a steamed mirror .
I changed from the oniell because of the wind buffering i was getting and the in built visor when used smacks me in the nose ,now i know that neither of these helmets are expensive but the tourtech has massive noise issues as well which is a pain , i will probably go back to the oneil even though your head needs to be on a spring , i think what annoys me the most is someone like oneil who are a fairly large player would have at least put a peak on the helmet that is somewhat aero dynamic for on the high way ,both helmets are fairly comfortable and i suppose this is what you get in the middle range of helmets .

Maintenance and Servicing / side cowlings
« on: July 18, 2020, 11:14:09 AM »
Hi all recently i had to remove the side cowlings to access the plugs to change them out anyway i had watched a video of a guy showing getting to do the valve clearances and he told how hard the cowls were to get off , to remedy this he lightly filed the tangs so they would come out easier, anyway yesterday i had to take of the side cowl to run the wire for the gear indicator now i have filed both sides and they now are so easy to remove and it makes the job a whole lot easier , when i accesed the plugs removing the left side i did actually break of one of the lugs and plastic welded it back on before fileing it ,i can say i am glad i did this no more struggling trying to get those cowls of ,a slight wiggle and there free just a couple of light files with a jewelers file and thats all still fit good but easy as to remove .

CB500X - General Chat / vibrations at 110 kmh
« on: July 16, 2020, 04:22:03 AM »
Hi all took the scooter out for a run along the expressway today first time doing over 80kmh i noticed when i got to around 110 kmh i seemed to be getting a lot of engine vibration through the bars as if the engine was really revving but it wasn't i this a normal thing for this bike, at 100 just cruises along no problems ,could it be the chain or sprockets ?
