How is it going mate. Did you get bored with the BMW scrambler already? BMW hold their money well.

I fixed the GS up at the beginning of the year and found have been using that most of the time - including 4600 mile trip round Britain in six days this summer. Scrambler is a great bike but for an occasional use bike wasn't that different from the GS and didn't wow me every time I opened the garage door. Which the Racer does (although it is uncomfortable, noisy and very impractical - in other words a 'proper' bike in every respect!).

Heck, I just traded in a year old BMW and lost less than that in trade in from the original price!

The short easy answer is, Yes they do look bad.
But there is nothing that beats the convenience they bring.

Agree completely - but does also remind me I still have a Givi fitting kit for a CB500X and Givi Trekker (think that it is what it is) top box which came with it in my garage. If anyone is interested PM me  :152:

Great looking bike - I am trying to convert an AJS 250 to similar spec for trials 👍

If you look at other videos of that route you will see the water was quite low for our trip! Luckily not too cold either; all ended up with boots full of water, and Pavel was soaked to his boxers!

Proof that where there is a will, there is a way!

Video of our recent trip in mid-Wales, including Pavel on his Rally Raid equipped CB500X. It is obviously not as capable as a proper trail bike on these tracks but we were all impressed with how well it coped with most of the route, and especially how it started straight away after going down in the water (especially as were not looking forward to trying to get the spark plugs out!).

Rubbish - only when you are talking bollox - but perhaps that may have been every time you posted... perhaps if you got that chip off your shoulder and developed a sense of humour  :001:

I certainly don't have the ego that requires me to have the biggest flashiest bike in the group. Your comments are exactly the sort that people put people off smaller bikes. I say smaller but when I started a 500 was an average sized bike and a 650 was a large one.

Yes, well one of the great things in life is that people can have different opinions about the same thing or experience - one of the great disappointments is how rarely others can respect someone else's opinion and feel the need to use them to fuel their own bigoted views; but then you have a history of that on this forum so I am not in the least surprised.

Okay, this goes against the flow but I am being honest for the OP's sake in offering an alternative opinion. I bought the CB500X after many years of much bigger bikes and to be honest it is a fine bike but I never felt much for it, and it is a bit boring and slow (which is not necessarily a bad thing) in comparison to being used to bigger bikes. In the end I have sold mine and bought a bike which in some ways is everything the CB500X isn't (which is not necessarily a good thing!). My head would say CB500X every time but although I tried to love it, my heart was always elsewhere, and life's too short for boring  :027:

I have used something similar to help oiling a chain but not sure if i would want to rely on it while taking the wheel out.
