It's a Honda, so it's got to be red.

If flipping the triangles doesn't lower enough, then shave the seat. There's info on here and youtube

Welcome, good to see so many new owners. Ask away, it's what we're all here for, and don't forget to hit that search button

Having been with this one from nearly the beginning, I can't recall anyone lowering for the stance, only for lack of leg length. It's easier to alter the bike. Yes. You will lose ground clearance but, aside from over tall speed humps, on road, it shouldn't be a problem. As to your feeling of sitting atop the X, the answer may be to shave the seat. This will alleviate the clearance question, and make you feel more a part of the bike. There is plenty of info on the subject hiding behind the search button.

Bit of deja vu here ( but I've had that before). the third wire mentioned above should be Violet/Red, in the interests of clarity.

@ cb500xnewbie, hi and welcome to the forum. Sadly my ageing brain cell can't recall any more info other than that which appears earlier in this thread, i.e. the wire is light green. It can recall it being a simple fit, with no problems such as you are experiencing. Hope you get it sorted.

There was a problem on some 2013/14 bikes which caused clunky gear changes. It turned out to be play where the splined part of the upper gear lever fits on the gearchange shaft. The bolt to tighten the lever to the shaft was insufficiently tight. When judiciously tightened, play removed, gear changes transformed. There's a thread on here somewhere. Take care not to overtighten the bolt.

Winchester, glad you're enjoying your X. You'll find a lot of help in achieving your goal by using the search facility for info on changing the final drive sprockets. This will enable you to restore tranquillity to your bike.
Happy riding
