I really don't understand why people don't think this bike can handle interstate highways. I just finished a trip down I5 in the US Pacific northwest, passing large trucks at 80 mph, in the rain with blustery winds. The 500X did just fine. At 85 it's starting to feel like it's working pretty hard but it's still got a bit of headroom over that if you really need it.  And yeah,  you can definitely feel the wind but to me it never feels out of control. I would guess that a bigger adv bike with a larger cross section is going to be blown around in the wind a bit too.

Anyway,  I have another bike that is a lot heavier and lower profile but the 500X feels better to me on the interstate.

I just checked mine recently. About 7500 miles on the bike and no oil in the drain tube.

Did you check the kill switch? Fuses?

Did you measure the battery voltage with the ignition on? If not, you may find that it drops way down with any load. 12.5 is a bit low for a fully charged battery with no load, so that's a possible indication that the battery is dying.

I would also suggest thoroughly cleaning all the contact surfaces on the battery posts and leads. Poor contact could be the cause of both the initial problem and the problem after re-installing the battery.

If your engine is knocking or otherwise running poorly there is something wrong. I suppose it could be crap gas but if you got it at a name brand station with a decent sales volume I kinda doubt it.

Got my '19 ABS model 3 weeks ago in Vancouver Washington. That dealer still had a non ABS model on the floor recently. A dealer in Seattle had at least one back when I was looking. These two dealers were the only ones I found in the northwest that had any '19s.

Well, l took them off. No problem. Thanks for the advice.

If it was me, I'd still go ahead and clean and re-tighten the ground connections. Might save you from getting stuck somewhere when the problem comes back.

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / warning sticker removal

This has been discussed in the past - seems people got different results, so I thought I'd bring it up again and see if anyone has any recent experience with removing the warning stickers. I'm not planning to remove all the stickers on the bike, but I have pretty much memorized the two on top of the fuel tank and I think it would look a lot better without the constant reminder to not be an idiot right in the middle of that nice red paint job. So - has anyone remove those stickers recently? Are they under the clear coat? They kind of look like it to me, but hoping to hear otherwise. Thanks.

The Hyperlites are 1/4 amp, not watts. At 12V that makes them 3 watts.

Forgive me if this topic has already been beaten to death. I searched but couldn't find any discussion specific to my question.

Just got a new 2019 500X. I read the manual cover to cover and there is no mention of a break-in period. Did I miss something?
