Interesting solution, did you wrap it after?

Mine isn't lining up and with enough km (maybe every 500), I need to shimmy it back in. Prob shifted less than half a cm. It won't fall off though.. Just thought I'd putty it then wrap it for a cleaner look

If I were to go through with putty, which do you suggest? Bit of a mix review from my researching

2018 cb500x. Got a universal 2" diameter exhaust with a mid pipe that doesn't seem to have a secure fitment. No fumes or anything but you can clearly see its at a slight angle. Hasn't caused any issue but looking at some options to just fix it up.

I've seen a few different puttys available, from metalic paste, to high temp silicone, to cements. After that I intend to do a bit of an exhaust wrap to tidy the looks.

After doing research, all  3 options seems popular from their reviews, so I thought I'd ask here as well.

Thanks!

@jamie. Thanks, Ill start with that first. Could be an easy clean up

@ruggy I looked at some oem pics etc and after fiddling a bit Im really leaning towards just glue or residue causing the grip not to rotate back. There is enough slack from the cables so not a tugging issue.

Tested on the highway going home, went wide open throttle and it stayed like cruise control lol. But anything under 70% throttle will rotate back.

Will take a closer look for clean up around next weekend. Much appreciated for the help.

@ruggy, nope.. I was gonna get those but didn't realize the bike already had grips. They look like this..

Seems like the same concept, I'm guessing the oem throttle tube was too big?

Hey Jamie, there is no oem throttle tube left, seems to be completely removed. The grips has its own throttle cable holder though  so it's attached that way. Something like this pic. I'm guessing there is either residue or glue making the rubbery throttle not rotate back smoothly at the 70%+ open throttle

Lemme know how you feel about that, cause if you believe it's a safety issue, I'll really consider and just order oem grips and take these crap off..  Then go Oxford or some amazon heated gloves.

My bad I thought this was strictly cb500x forum lol. I'm from Canada. I tried to take a pic but it looks very normal so it's hard to identify any issue. I'm guessing the installation can't be too difficult. Open up starter/ignition box, remove all old crap and pull all grip wires, slide the throttle wire back into oem grips, torque and done. My initial test drive didn't have much issues, as I was using average throttle, and down shift blips were fine. Throttle goes cruise mode essentially at 70%+ throttle so it doesn't seem like a huge issue but good to know it's a cheaper project. I will probably just remove the entire unit.

Hey Jamie, sorry I can't get a picture at the moment, possibly after work.

The throttle tube is the white piece under stock throttle grip, correct? If so, yes that piece is gone, throttle will stay open after twisting, will not rewind automatically.

Hey y'all so apparently the cb I got already has heated grips but it's installed a bit sketchy and I need advice.

I'm not sure what brand they are exactly but it was installed differently than the Oxford. The white plastic throttle wasn't filed down, instead it's completely removed, and the throttle grip directly on the handlebars. The throttle also will stay open after turning, there is tension but doesn't rotate back automatically.

What should I do?
