Random Banter / What comes next?
« on: March 20, 2020, 02:38:23 PM »
I've made it to Pro - 100 posts I think.

How long do I have to wait (or how hard do I have to post) to become a god - and is there anything in between?

Tyres and Wheels / Has anybody tried Anlas Capra X?

Just replaced the worn-out TKC80s on my RR Level 3 bike with a set of these on the advice of my tyre guru - Mike from the Rubber Ranch (yes, it is a tyre shop - and only a tyre shop :-)

Haven't had much chance to try them yet but they look the business...

Maintenance and Servicing / Spares for an expedition...
« on: February 07, 2019, 06:58:55 PM »
Iím doing the Globebusters London to Beijing expedition, starting in April and am busy prepping the RR CBx.

Itís a 13,000 mile trip, with a service and tyre-change planned midway through.

Beyond service items, any thoughts or tips regarding parts or spares youíd recommend I take, beyond the obvious like levers, pegs, cables etc.?

Iím really looking for experience-based input on things that might or did fail on anybody.

Any thoughts gratefully received...

Items Wanted / Foot pegs wanted

Anybody got a pair of OEM rider foot pegs they donít want/need?

Beer tokens await...

Just back from my first extended ride on my RR3 CB500x.  500 miles of roads and country lanes in wet and muddy conditions - no off-road though.

I can not believe how dirty my boots, helmet, suit and (Kriega) luggage are.  I've never had a bike make the rider so muddy.  The back of my suit looks like I've been rolling on the ground and my trousers look like I've been swamp-wading!!

No way can I use this as a winter road bike if it's going to do this every time it rains.

Anybody out there found a cure in some combination of huggers, fender-extenders, mud-flaps etc. etc.?

Saw one on the flesh at the NEC bike show today.  Look like a great bit of kit but I'm a bit worried it may be too big for the CB.

Views or experiences?

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / Performance enhancement...
« on: November 14, 2018, 01:50:50 PM »
Has anybody here in the UK taken their CB500x to Geoff at Hilltop?

If you did, was it worth it?

I know it may seem odd to consider it for a non-performance bike but I'm curious as to whether the engine is capable of giving more than the OEM ECU map allows it to...

Items Wanted / WANTED - brake and gear pedals

Anybody in the UK have a spare OEM brake and/or gear lever in exchange for some beer tokens?

What about all you RR converters out there?

Rally Raid / RR rear suspension failure...
« on: September 23, 2018, 08:32:37 PM »
Riding down the A1M on Thursday my L3RR suspension gradually started to feel less supple than normal.

When I arrived home, I discovered the back my right boot was covered in oil and the back end of the bike looked like it had been the victim of an over-enthusiastic chain-oiler.

It seems that the suspension damping reservoir had deposited its entire contents over everything.

Anybody else had the same issue?

New Member Introductions / Lurking to learn...

Greetings from a grey and chilly London.

Currently a GS rider but planning a big overland trip to Beijing in early 2019 and considering a Rally Raid CB500x for the trip.  Getting a bit old to be picking up a dropped fully-laden GS on a remote gravel road.

Here to find out more about the everyday experience of CB500x ownership...
