This was an intriguing read:

It seemed to have been handled quite calmly by the traffic officers.  What is a P-plate rider?

Ride Reports, Trips, and Touring / Shake down run

I am planning on a 3500 mile trip this summer, and thought that a shakedown run was advisable.  652 miles in two days on the twistiest roads going to Flagstaff to visit (briefly) with the youngest son and his family.

Photo at Lake Mary shortly after leaving Flagstaff.

The only "drawback" was that I had made it to the wear bar for the oem rear tire a bit quicker than I hoped.  I only got 5500 miles out of the rear tire;  a Michelin Pilot Road 4 is ordered and should arrive on Tuesday.

Random Banter / Some days feel like this

Having had to leave home before getting my first motorcycle, I can relate.

The location of the crankcase breather tube suggests an illegitimate engineer or two in the Honda motorcycle design complex.  Has anyone had need to drain this?  If so, how did you do it?  The instructions in my owners manual (p. 81) are delightfully vague.  I can barely get my hand in there, much less release the clamp, remove the plug, and have room for the "suitable container".

 :471: ???

I'm seriously looking at a CB500X as a possible replacement for my '89NX250.

Of course, I'm certain that I want to "try on" a KTM 390 Duke before making any decisions.  Hopefully, by the time I can try a Duke, the X will be available in white w/ ABS in my country.
