Hi.
Can anyone with knowledge of the 2 versions of OEM screen and mounts, describe the differences or even post a drawing of the changes?
I'd like to know if the differences are in the screen holes or is the bracket spacing different?
I have a 2016 model and have an option on an earlier fit Madstad screen - will it be reasonable to modify the Madstad brackets to fit my bike or am I doomed?
Many thanks,

Items Wanted / WANTED: Madstad screen (2016 onwards) UK
« on: July 30, 2018, 09:12:42 PM »
Hi - I'm looking to find a Madstad screen for my 2016 CB500X - the taller the better!
If you or someone you know is selling their bike with a Madstad screen - then I'd be happy to take the screen or swap for a standard Honda 2016 screen and cash.
Please PM me if you can help.

OK - so I bought a Honda heated grip kit 08ETB-M3Z-HGAR from an ex-500F rider thinking I could stretch it to fit the X. Sadly, I haven't managed to view any Honda information on the part number.  :210:
The kit looks good but the left grip has a tail (50cms), with 2 black wires, one terminated with female bullet, the other male. These 2 wires have no 'pair' connectors on the harness and there is no indication of anything cut from the harness. (the wires appear identical to the ones from the right grip - so I think they are the ones to the heater coils)
I wonder if anyone has experience of fitting the Honda grips and wiring them in?
I haven't posted on the 500F forum but I wonder if the F has a link to the dash and a heated grips light?
[When I get a chance, I'll power-up the harness and if the grips work, I'll seal-off the 2 spare wires]

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / OEM pannier & rear rack mount
« on: February 08, 2018, 12:06:53 PM »
Hi - I've just sourced a Honda rear rack that aligns perfectly with my existing pannier frame mounts.
The 4 mounting bolts (with 12mm heads) appear a little short for fixing the rack and sit within recesses on the rack and I don't have a thin-walled 12mm socket to tighten them.
In the absence of a Honda parts diagram - does anyone know of a UK source of Allen-headed bolts I could use to secure the rack and pannier upper mounts?
Many thanks,
Steve

New Member Introductions / Hi from the northern border of England
« on: June 15, 2017, 06:42:58 PM »
Hi everyone - just thought to introduce myself and share a photo of my CB500X now that I have her ready for action.
She's a 2016 (X-AG) - the one with LED lights and fork adjusters.
I've just changed the front spocket to 16T and added Honda frames and panniers. When I feel inspired and confident to tackle the wiring, I'll add some heated grips and connect the GPS through a switched outlet.
In 40+ years of motorcycling this is my first Honda and she is so appropriate for local (Northumberland) (back) roads. I had checked-out the smaller GS and the NC750 - but the 500 felt smoother, livelier (than the NC) and light enough to rescue if I lose my footing.
I am still fine-tuning the suspension, trying to reduce the 'bounciness' of the front end and playing with the screen to find my comfort zone.
Anyways - I'm happy to have the 500 and this amazing forum and I look forward to seeing you out and about choosing not to blend into the bland GS brigade.
(that was a bit harsh - but I genuinely prefer variety to sameness - and on a weekend probably 75% of the bikes I see are GS's)
Bike safe - Steve

Items Wanted / Key NOT wanted for 2013/2015 CB500 - UK
« on: May 18, 2017, 10:38:48 PM »
Hi.
I have a 2016 bike (CB500XA-G) with the new (thicker) wave ignition key - which will not fit the barrels of my 2013/2015 pannier locks.

Fortuitously, I have just 'matched' my house garage key to my luggage locks so I'm back in business - my panniers can now be attached (and rather importantly - detatched).  Just in time for summer!

Thanks for reading.
Steve
