CB500X - General Chat / M.P.G
« on: May 15, 2019, 05:19:33 PM »
I was wondering why I couldn't get as many miles for my gallon as everyone else , the last reading for an average over 207 mls according to the trip computer was 69.5 . Unfortunately for the dirty little liar I was  watching my miles and brimmed the tank to previous level . I managed to use 11.71 litres or 2.57 gallons for those 207 miles so it was actually 80.5 MPG. I feel better about it now . :001: . Any one know where the mileage is recorded from ? Wondering now how a sixteen tooth sprocket fitted affects this .

Maintenance and Servicing / Givi engine bars
« on: January 06, 2019, 04:10:10 PM »
Hi , Has anyone figured out if it is possible to remove what I believe are the mid cowl plastics without removing the engine protection bars made by Givi . They are a right royal PITA to remove and replace especially the under headlight bracketry . God help you if you need under the plastics on the road (even to top up coolant they have to be loosened) . I thought about removing the indicator stalk but shy away from possibly  breaking any plastics . Might just change for other bars with easier access .

Admin post on previous thread acknowledged . hope fresh start OK .
I haven't yet seen a bracket that allows "kick out" of screen to streamline and reduce turbulence , and I'm certainly not spending 100 plus on a might be better . Photos show my attempt at solution , might be a while before I try it though as tax out and winter on it's way . Four rubber mounts male to female bought from Ebay  . If its over the top I will remove two .

Really good for part numbers but north of 500 for a wiring harness or fuel injection unit ? Thought I'd bought a cheap little runaround .

Maintenance and Servicing / Valve clearance shims
« on: September 11, 2018, 07:16:14 PM »
I have been reading up on valve clearances  and adjustments and all seems fairly straightforward . I see a need for identifying values of existing shims , can anyone tell me from their experience if markings on shims will still be legible after a few thousand miles or will they need to be measured .
Thanks  .  John
