Rally Raid / Powder coating
« on: December 29, 2019, 11:29:32 AM »
Has anyone tried re-powder coating the gold wheels on the RR tubeless conversion? I'm not that keen on the colour as they're not gold like the Africa Twin gold rims, more caramel coloured,  or as someone unkindly described them as beige  :(

Would getting them re-coloured invalidate the tubliss warranty?

Rally Raid / Big thumbs up to RR!
« on: July 26, 2019, 10:24:37 AM »
My new tubeless spoked wheels,  ABS ring and rear shock arrived....quality bits of kit!

When fitting, there were one or two fixtures and fittings missing, despite being ticked on the packing list. Quick phone call to Rally Raid and they arrived in the post the next morning.

We're sometimes too quick to criticise when things go wrong with traders and often too slow to praise good service- well done RR and thank you from a very satisfied customer!

Surpus due to purchasing Rally Raid wheels. Ideal as a spare set for off-roading. UK

Tyres and Wheels / 90/10 tyres
« on: July 07, 2019, 03:25:38 PM »
My new RR Tubeless wheels have arrived and I'm looking for some purely road tyres as the bike will only be used on gnarly potholed unclassified roads- typical country roads: grass in the middle, loose chippings, broken tar etc , with the potential for very occasional  fire-breaks.

Any 17" suggestions please?

I don't need a 50/50 tyre as a purely road- biased tyre will suit my needs.

Thank you,

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / Denali D2 Trioptic in UK

My local dealer will price match the cheapest genuine price where it is like for like and in stock but all the places seem to be quoting 335. Is there price fixing going on , or has anyone found them cheaper?

Please don't Google 'Camel toes' like I did  :114:

Anyway, having searched for a sidestand base with a wider footprint , I came across the RR side stand extension which I have now ordered; yes there probably cheaper fleabay options made with child labour in China but it's nice to support British companies....especially post-B****it

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / Tank pads?
« on: March 20, 2019, 04:09:01 PM »
Has anyone got any recommendations for those stick-on tank pads that protect the paintwork from being marked by zips etc?

Held at a campsite on the beautiful West Wales coast. Dedicated field, use of the barn, raffle, quiz, guided rides by the locals.

Traditional Welsh Cawl ( lamb stew) cooked for you and bacon butties provided before the ride-outs.

Rally Raid / Level One Tubed or Tubeless?

Level One tubeless or tubed on a 2018 CB500x?

Probably mostly road use, I really do like the look of the Gold spoked wheels over the o/e cast wheels, so it's for aesthetics really.

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / Progress report so far
« on: March 13, 2019, 03:52:03 PM »
'Phase One' of the project to modify and 'farkle' the 500X is now completed. So far the mods made are:

SW Motech centre stand, engine protection bars, bash plate and rear rack;
Scorpion  'Serket' exhaust;
Mount for Garmin 595;
RR 'Stage One' front fork internals.
Gear indicator.

As the bank balance recovers, next 'wish list' will be for some Denali D2's fog and spots......and very far down the road, I'd love the RR spoked wheels conversion ( only because the look so damn beautiful in gold)

ps. I would have ordered Hepco & Becker tank protection bars ( aka upper crash bars) but unsure whether or not they would be compatible with the SW Motech lower bars in respect of mounting points?

The bike is a 'keeper'; 2018 model bought new in February this year and will be used for travelling the back roads of Wales, without any serious off-road use ( if any at all)
