CB500X - General Chat / New Bike Sales in OZ
« on: April 10, 2014, 07:19:52 AM »
Well - new bikes sales have been released in Australia for the 1st quarter:

100 proud new owners for the CB500XA (we only have ABS here .... which makes sense with all of our gravel roads....not).

The F model sold 118 in the same period.

The R ..... 592 sold and is the #3 of all new bikes sold! And outsells the X 6:1.   :187:

Outsold the ADV BMW F's and G's - and almost caught the VStrom 650.  :305:

Of course - the favourite bike here in Australia ? .... the Postie (Honda CT110 step through, farm bike bought by Australia Post to deliver mail)  :730:

On Two Wheels / Waterproof Short Boots - review of RJays
« on: April 05, 2014, 07:48:06 AM »
Bought some RJays short boots for my courier work. My findings.....

Cheap - only $AUD 130.

Comfort - excellent... both on the bike and importantly for work off the bike - stairs included. Comfort off the bike is better than wearing Blundstones, and of course far more comfortable when riding.

Wear - not bad, but after 3,000 kms they are rubbing against the frame pretty bad. Not scratches - just rub marks.

Waterproof - good for the first hour.... but leak after that. Not so good. In fact - not really happy and wouldn't buy again because this was the main reason I bought the boots. Aquashield? not up to it.

Protection.... can't really comment, but they appear pretty robust

« on: April 05, 2014, 07:02:07 AM »
so, next weekend we have both WSBK and motogp races....

My predictions (I never get it right but like t have a go):

motogp: Marquez, Lorenzo, Rossi (hopeful Rossi is here - my head actually says 5/6th)
moto2: Rabat, Cortese, Lowes
moto3: Miller (bit parochial here....), Marquez, someone else....

WSBK: Sykes, Melandri, Guintoli

Anyone else have predictions...

Anybody been watching this. Very entertaining.

A good foxtel show... I like this guy, he is salt of the earth. Would love to see him race at IOM some day.

On Two Wheels / How good is Jack Miller

I do realise I could be blinded by parochialism - but is this kid the next big thing.

He is way bigger than the other moto3 guys, and he won really, really well in Qatar.

Go Jack

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / Top box option
« on: March 22, 2014, 09:40:37 PM »
A new top box - holds 50 litres, 100% waterproof, very light, super cheap, keyless entry, doesn't require a rack and is easy to fit. Can expand to approx. 70 litres...

Cons - you lose the pillion space and not very secure.

Random Banter / Autobiographies

Currently reading Jim Redman autobiography on my kindle.

The guys from this era can have some much interesting things to read about. Tough times that put their achievements into even more perspective.

Also some time ago read about Barry Sheene - he was such a full on guy.

Anyone else read about bike racers and can recommend books for me to load on the kindle?

Modifications, Accessories, and Appearance / The Seat
« on: February 28, 2014, 04:10:54 AM »
I need feedback from those that have modified the seat to make it more comfortable.

The ergonomics of the seat, bars and pegs are all good. So I don't want to the change that aspect.

All I want is comfort for longer rides.

The way I see it from a bit of research the options are:

1. Air Hawk
2. Sargent seat / seat modified by a specialist
3. Sheepskin
