Gear ratio change
« on: August 09, 2013, 02:58:00 AM »
Say has anyone considered changing the sprockets on your bike. I want to get better mileage and think the bike can handle a taller ratio, but haven't found a supplier yet that has sprockets (US) My bike has a short first and I can run in top gear through towns easy so I think it could be taller and have the power to handle it with no problem thereby dropping the revs and improving the mileage. Thanks! michael.

The rear sprocket is 41 tooth, the front is 15 tooth on a stock bike. I bought a rear sprocket from intobikes.co.uk (a 44 tooth Renthal) for about $50 shipped. The people from intobikes were responsive and helpful- my package is on the way and I have a tracking number. I went with the 44 tooth for more acceleration. Check out the site, they probably have smaller rear sprockets for lower rpms too.
