wotta, keep your wits about you, but enjoy the motorbike.

Riding in Bangkok can be a bit of a challenge from what I saw when I was briefly there.  You certainly have a more powerful bike than most, but the cars can still get you.

And, you are still a young fella from my perspective, as I'm 15 years older.

I'm 78 years old and counting. I started riding (homemade scooter) when I was 14 years old, so 64 years on two wheels.

Hi, I started on scooters too - 1969, 16 years old, last of the mods!!

It had to be a Lambretta, that was the in thing, although Vespas were OK, they weren't 'cool' with our gang..... I had to buy my scooter from a guy in the year above me in school, a real hard-man, and I was sent down to see it and offer him 20 against the 25 he was asking for - never been so scared, but we settled on 23 pretty quickly!  It was in poor condition, but Dad was a mechanic and we resprayed it, and fixed it all up, and when I met the guy again, he couldn't believe how fantastic it looked.  I was OK with him from then on!!!

It looked kinda like this, then I crashed it and we fitted a 175 engine and sprayed it all red like the second picture.  Wish I had photos of my actual scoots.....

All of my other bikes are in my gallery.  Anyone else got any interesting old photos??

Here's my first ride (not mine, but looks like it). I put it together with parts I bought or were given to me. It is a late 1940's or early 1950's Cushman 60.

I couldn't find the engine cover so I rode it "naked" (the scooter)! :)

Cool!  The scooter, not riding naked.  :745:

We used to leave the side panels off, and were always getting pulled over by the cops, even although it wasn't illegal - I got a really hard time once, out in the country with nobody else around.  Real bully tactics!

Fortunately, I had only recently shown all my documents at the police station, and managed to get the traffic cops to check with the office....... :016:

Looks to me, reading the posts, that there seems to be a fair amount of more mature X riders out there. Be interesting to know how many over 60s we've got. So come on, don't be shy, own up & let's give the youngsters a run for their money. I'll admit to being 65, who'll join me.

60 years young in two weeks time , traded in a 600 bandit for the cb500 . Full luggage fitted , was originally a bit dissapointed when first bought but am now loving bike , takes some getting used to after a succession of fours . Like the fact that it's quite light , lack of low end torque is what you get with a twin , think this will do fine as I get older, not just for A2 licence holders , good for down grading to.
