Exhaust recommendations
« on: May 13, 2016, 02:21:37 PM »
Just off the phone with my dealer and he said aftermarket exhausts as long as it's bought through them and fitted by them it won't void the warranty, anyone have any recommendations for exhausts for a 2016 500x? The only one Honda has in its catalogue is an akrapovic for 500

I got a DanMoto remote adjustable that I liked a lot, it sounded really throaty and was a pretty easy install. I don't think the remote is really needed as it isn't stupid loud when fully open. Loud, yes, stupid loud, no.

Power may have gone up a bit and mileage may have gone down a bit, it is within the noise. Only problem is that I later bought a center stand and found the stand is not compatible with the pipe... the factory exhaust is also the stop for the center stand. I have it off the bike right now until I get time to figure out a solution.

Also I added a hanger to mine to get it to fit right. Their customer service was prompt and they said I didn't need to do that, but I never went back to try to remove the hanger per their instructions since it pulled the pipe in tight.

Phiz - you can create a suitable stop for the centre stand using a second pipe clamp - rummage around on the forum here and you ought to find an example of someone who's done it...

Very smart pipe. A question you may not be able to answer, but does this upswept exhaust still allow you to use the stock Honda panniers?

Hi DomC - although the Scorpion Taper is shorter and stubbier, I'm not sure it is all that much higher than stock, it just looks that way. As I recall, they both exit pretty much in line with the top of the tyre... I will try and compare the hight with a stock pipe over the next few days and will let you know...

For $199.00 the Leo Vince sounds a whole lot better.

OEM muffler clamp as center stand stop- I did it when I had a pipe on my bike worked great-to make it better I used an old 8mm bolt that had a 14mm head
It's not a big motorcycle just a groovy little motorbike
