Hi all, 21 years after getting a CB500 when I returned back to biking, I've bought a new CB500X from the nice people at Ecosse Dundee today. Should get it in a couple of weeks time, and its first big trip that's in the planning stage is riding the bike down to the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Morocco in April 2017.

Between the CB500's I've had a Honda Firestorm, various BMW GS's of varying ages and cylinders and recently a couple of Suzuki V-Stroms and SV650's.

Hi and welcome.  :400:

That will be a fair trip down to Morocco next year and are you going with others on similar size bikes?

Hope you like your new CB500X as you certainly have had a few other bikes over the years

Thanks for the welcome.

The trip will be on my own, so no worrying about bigger bikes guzeling the fuel and slowing me down  :001:

It's a place I have wanted to visit for the last fifteen years or so but all my mates have packed in riding bikes and find it a little daunting to go on my own.

Hi handyal, for sure it's a bit of a leap across the Straits of Gibraltar, but it's been done a few times and there's lots of good advice on the internet to help reduce, and mitigate, any risks. I know I'll be slightly out of my comfort zone, but that's part of the reason I want to go. I don't want to go a mile outside my comfort zone btw.
