AJC you are a rockstar I remember I got a new 1978 Honda ATC110 three-wheeler the owner's wife came outside when we were loading it and ask can you come with me. I walked in and she said I am going to give you a helmet and I want you to wear it everytime you ride. I started wearing after I crashed and broke my nose. My son called me after he seen the video and ask me where is mom gear? We almost always dress for riding but that day was hot and I promised to take it easy. It turned into a great day I think we rode 300+ plus miles after we ate breakfast. It was too hot to fish.

I think I've told this story before..... I didn't wear a helmet in my first few years of riding.  Even when sitting my bike test I had to borrow a helmet and only put it on round the corner from the test centre - all my mates were the same, mods on Lambrettas, and too cool to ruin our look with a helmet!

Then my cousin hit a cow on his way to work and broke both wrists (clip-on handlebars on a caf racer) and his nose (on his open face visor) - I promised to buy a helmet when I visited him in hospital.
The Story So Far.........
2017 and 2018: 8000miles recreational use - 89.82mpg UK; 74.79mpg US; 3.14litres/100km

I have posted this for newbies, to show why you want to use a full-face helmet; I was wearing a 3/4 helmet.

I had to ask the EMT not to cut the shirt off.  :002:  My wife hates that shirt.

Fractured scapula and ribs plus unconscious for an unknown length of time before found by a passing auto driver.  I am sure that the helmet saved my head.

Oh, and I was riding a cruiser.

Whole thing could have been avoided if he'd used the horn...
