Last year I toured Spain on my 500X (see >>>> link hidden <<<<

I left the UK at the end of May and have just come back. It was again an amazing journey, and the little Honda has performed flawlessly without any hiccups. I went through France, than to Barcelona, Zaragoza, looped west underneath Madrid to the Estremadura, from there to Lisbon and up into the Northeast of Portugal, back into Spain and via Salamanca, Madrid en Burgos to the Pyrenees. Finally back through France, to complete a loop of 5200 miles in all.

Some rain in the beginning and at the end, but otherwise very sunny and hot weather. With but few exceptions the Spanish roads are amazing, well surfaced, marked and signposted. Portugal is a different matter, the back roads are pretty evil throughout.

Here are a few pictures to give a flavour:

Nice one.

You might be ready for Morocco now, you get Spain as a bonus.

That is awesome! Did you upgrade the rear shock? I find that when I add to much weight on the back the bike can turn a bit funny on turns with bumps since the damper is not very effective with all that mass.

I'm soooo envious. Well done.
All we can do is go to the North Island or South Island.

Upgrading my rear shock is a bit of a saga... the short of it is that no, I didn't. I bought the Rally Raid level 1 kit and upgraded the forks, but returned the rear shock when it turned out that it could not be retrofitted with a remote preload adjuster, contrary to what they had told me when I bought it. Then I waited for their new shock to come on the market, but that was too late for my trip last year. Because I then completed that trip ok I wasn't sure I actually wanted/needed to spend hundreds of pounds on a new shock anyway. So I left it.

I agree that there are some stability issues under load, on poorer roads, but I simply adjust my riding style and get by. The fork upgrade has been far more important for the overall ride quality, I would say.
