The ABS light should light up when you first start up the bike, but then once you start moving it will turn off (over some speed, I think around 10 km/h). It won't come on again until you either shut off the bike and start again or if there is a problem with the system.

The ABS light will be on when you first start the bike.  It will turn off once you go above 6 mph or 10 km/h.  It will not turn on again unless there is a fault in the system or the key is turned off.

The ABS system is only active when moving above 6 mph or 10 km/h.  You can check this by mashing down hard on the rear brake when you go below that speed, the rear tire will lock up.  I wouldn't try that with the front tire unless you want to do a low speed high side.  So when you drop below that speed it will become inactive but the light will remain off.  The light is only for indicating a fault in the ABS system.
