Reminder
« on: August 11, 2017, 11:01:28 PM »
Remember when you first got your bike home, the excitement, the speed reading of the owner's manual. Couldn't wait to get it out on the road.
Well, now you've got that out of your system, take a half hour out, relax, sit in the sun and read slowly and thoroughly through that manual again, and I'll bet you find at least one thing you didn't know. That one thing could save your life, so give it a go. To those who obviously never read it in the first place, shame on you, get it read now.

Any particular reason for this epiphany you have had? If not, that's fine, it is a very good reccomendation and perhaps I will do it myself. Cheers!  :821:

I knew the manual (on line) by heart before I got the bike: I had to wait over a month before delivery.
In the mean time, I got myself a Haines manual and got my kicks in there.. but hey, people sometimes find me weird...

Ceddy17, useful way to pass the month waiting. If only other new owners did the same.

Dear Defender,
Maybe that explaines why sometimes people ask questions about items that are clearly explained in the manual...
Or is it that manuals are unreadable when they are not between the borders of a screen?
Take care,
Ed.

I'd suggest that as our steads grow older their owners manuals and workshop manuals might not be passed on when the bike is sold...
We'll see more second hand bikes being picked up and their new owners might not receive the owners manual
Although of course the generic owners manual is free to download.

Good point Harry, some owners may not be so careful in passing on manuals etc., although there is a place for the manual under the seat (how many knew that or use it?). However, as it is available online, there's no excuse for not reading it, is there?

To be honest, how many people read their car owners manual from cover to cover?  I know that I didn't.

Sargent_Horse, sorry, don't know how I missed your post. I don't think there was anything in particular, probably just me being a little obsessional in wanting to know how things work, or should be used as intended, for safety reasons.
Or it could be having to reset the microwave, again

In my case I read the manual online after I bought the bike and I learned about the helmet lock cable that comes with the bike.
