BrakeAway Throttle Lock
« on: August 11, 2017, 04:58:49 PM »
For those who installed a BrakeAway throttle lock: which model did you install?
I ordered and received a model 7CP02. Is that the right model for my bike 2017 CB500X ABS?

Thank you,

Larry

Yes, that's the model I have on my 2016 500X ABS. Read the installation instructions well, it can be a tad tricky to get it setup perfectly. Enjoy it, I love mine.
I don't actually own a vehicle with more than 2 wheels...

Most of our bikes do have a simple Vista Cruse throttle lock.
They are simple and not expensive, some $20 and work fine on "normal" Honda throttles like the ST1100' CB750 Varadero etc.
But I found it difficult to put it on our 2016 CB500x
Any one did this successfully ??  I would like to know.

Next to this I think turning the throttle at low RPM is to much on of.
Is there a simple solution??

$20 I use it in 2-3 minute increments , enough to rest my throttle hand. Works fine for me.

Will it work with a Grip Puppy?

If I've got it right, reduce the freeplay of the throttle to zero helps a lot

Yeah. Might have to trim 1/2" off the grip puppies.

I checked the go-cruise site, FAQ specifically addressed foam grips; like you said, trim and go.
With all these little comfort tidbits, I'm getting closer to a long ride everyday!
Thank you Sir, T :305:

Grip puppies and I don't get along so well. Bought a pair a few years back, used them for a day and took them off, didn't work for me with my riding gloves. Did this three time since then, now they are put away somewhere.  :018:

I had one on throttle since the end of May. It seems to have helped; maybe I've learned to relax. Go Cruise should be here Monday, I'll strip it and reevaluate.
