Joke - Part Exchange Honda offer
« on: November 04, 2017, 05:17:23 PM »
So I'm contemplating a CBR500R.
I see one for sale at Norton Way Honda - Letchworth.
I remember them saying that for non franchise bikes eg Triumph, their PX offers aren't very strong.
They list their bikes for sale and also state that they'll make a 'fantastic offer' for your Honda bike.

So I asked them about PX'ing my '67 (2017) Honda CRF250L with just over 500 miles on it. Not even 2 months old.
I bought it from them new for 4,400.
They offered me.....
......
......
......
2,750. Not a 'fantastic offer' as such.....more like a 'pull down your pants sir, we're going to shaft you' offer...... :192:
I mean.....what on earth.....are they for real?  :125:
Luckily, I'm also contemplating a R3 and I might just do it.
The Yamaha dealer that is local to me said he couldn't offer a good px but was helpful in saying that this time of the year is perfect for Dual Sport bikes and the CRF250L is perfect and it's good timing for a sale.......and probably an ebay sale too.

In all honesty Steve, I would suspect the minute you rode that bike out the Honda dealership the depreciation would be 1500, hence the reason why used bikes bought privately are a better buy.
You only win on new bikes if you are going to keep them for years and do many miles.

How is it going mate. Did you get bored with the BMW scrambler already? BMW hold their money well.

I fixed the GS up at the beginning of the year and found have been using that most of the time - including 4600 mile trip round Britain in six days this summer. Scrambler is a great bike but for an occasional use bike wasn't that different from the GS and didn't wow me every time I opened the garage door. Which the Racer does (although it is uncomfortable, noisy and very impractical - in other words a 'proper' bike in every respect!).
