I just took off the PO's adjustable shorty levers and found the same thing, just not nearly as bad as yours.

In the USA it is legal to just cut down the stock levers to make shorties.  I've been doing that for years.

Just ordered the Rally Raid short leavers.   Based on the quality of the rest of the kit, I am guessing they are going to be bulletproof.

I will take some photos while fitting.
