I pulled the trigger today...
« on: December 07, 2017, 04:04:33 AM »
Well... after reading reviews, watching YouTube reviews and personal postings and scouring this site...I bought my first bike...well first bike since my 1978 Honda xl75.

I purchased a 2017 red Cb500x at a dealer...demo...1700 km or just over 1000 miles.  Got a price 25% off normal new price, fry and prep fees. Plus got 0.9% financing and free insured storage over winter...something of crucial for me given my first bike status. Downside...bought the bike...won't see again until April. Gives me time to get all my licensing.

So looking for helmet and accessories like luggage if some sort...likely just a tank bag for now.

Thanks to members on the site...between answering my questions and having discussions I was able to search and read this site helped give me the confidence to pull the trigger.

Commuting from country side into a small town and central Ontario Canada...aka cottage country is my home so lots of scenic drives ahead....my plan for the bike.

Will be removing tread decal.

Glad you are here sorry you are not getting to ride for a while but it gives you time to prep. It's one of the best time to find deals on gear on eBay.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Weather bad??? Hey...you can go sit on your bike. Mine won't be here until Feb.  :002:
Dear Santa,
This year I would like a big fat bank account and a slim body. Please don't get them mixed up like you did last year.

Congratulation! I'm in a similar situation. Going to the dealer on Saturday and may end up riding home in the snow if I go for the orange! :) Their only stock bike. Pressure to do deal before Dec 31st and even thought it means a 2017 bike instead of waiting til Jan so it's 2018 reg I'm going for it as I'm getting it for 4850 with a cover thrown in.  List price was 5699 6 weeks ago!

I had an XL250 in 1979. Got it on my 17th birthday and absolutely loved it. Hoping the CB will be like a bigger modern version :)

Starting off with crash bars and heated grips only, will take it from there. Best wishes.

Yeh AJC, a dealer down south was really pushing for the order but I told the local dealer I'd rather buy from them. They didn't match but close enough :) Would've felt a bit sh#t taking a Manchester bike in for servicing etc

Would the price have been different if it was baked instead of fried? :745:

Congrats !

Methinks Honda UK warehouses must be bulging with unsold stock. Good time to dive in as I believe 2018 is identical apart from maybe colors. If you have recently bought (like me) then residuals have been hammered but so what I've had over 5,000 miles which I have loved every one and these things are not investments but consumables.

As one man of wisdom once said, "if it's got tit's or tyres, rent it".
