Having hell of a time re-installing the front cowel/cover
« on: April 11, 2018, 10:34:26 PM »
So I had to replace the front cowel because of a crash, but after getting a new one,
I can't for the life of getting it to reach the mounting points for the screws.

The piece I am talking is the one that has the signal lights, in the picture below it is the number 4 piece(The upper front cowel)

I have tried inserting one of the screws on either side (screw 16) but then the other side does reach the screen whole.
I have also tried pushing the cowel up as much as I can and I can't get it to go all the way.

Any tips on getting this to mount properly?

I changed mine more than a year ago, although I don't recall how to put it together I remember it was very straightforward.

Are you sure you got the correct part and not one for 2016?

Are you doing all this with the front subframe mounted on the bike? I did mine taking the entire front subframe assembly so I could rotate and manipulate it easily.

Any chance the mounting points were bent in the crash?

I am pretty confident on the part number - 64130-MGZ-J80 that is what I bought. (2015 CB500x)

I am trying to mount it while the subframe is on the bike(Just trying to avoid doing more work :))

Can you post a couple pictures or videos of the issue you are having?

This is what I manage to post on youtube.
Let me know if that is clear enough.

The metal brackets that hold the windscreen need to go over the cowl you are installing

Slide the cowl from the front so the metal brackets end up being over it. The cowl has two slots where the metal bracket will fit

I attached a picture I found on the internet for reference

:152: I'd agree with that. From the video the cowl has not been slide over the windscreen brackets.
