mileage
« on: December 09, 2018, 01:45:58 AM »
I have just reached 138000 kms  { 86250 miles]  I am just curious if there are many of you out there with higher mileage than this. If so how many.
Cheers

That's impressive. I suppose there aren't many on this forum or other forums with mileage like that. What is the story? What year X? Commuter? Long distance adventures?

Very impressive. Ive just had the 1000km service so Ive got a long way to go. The dealer gave a passing comment the other day, youll be good for 100,000 so I guess hes right..... and the rest.

159,000km at the moment, over almost three years (5k on the bike when I got it).

No mechanical problems of note over that time. Had to replace the fork seals, and the rear wheel bearing went at about 40,000 (I think) but other than that it's been fine, and still runs like a dream.

Not riding it much right now though, as I have a new toy. Can't see myself getting rid of my X, although my brother is clrcling....  :008:

Yammyfan, who left the forum a while back, must be well over 200,000km by now, if he kept the bike - he was doing some long distance commuting in the UK. There was another bloke who lost his bike after a fool hit him, just shy of 200,000km.

uku 383 that's a good effort 1590000, I am hoping to get to 160000km that's 100 thousand miles and would of been unheard years ago on a bike.
Mine is mainly commuting and leisure rides. It will be 5 years old in February. No major faults and still even original battery. Runs like new and still getting 100kms to 3.7 litres

Thanks, Oldhamer.  :002: I do the same riding as you. About 1,000km a week commuting, with the inevitable weekend blats thrown in (you must have some great rides in your part of the world). I've also taken my bike to Adelaide three or for times, with a swag on the back. My new bike is a 2011 Triumph Sprint GT, and while that's heaps of fun for day trips, my back hurts after about four hours of riding - not so with the X!

I'm also on the first battery. I think that if a bike is ridden for a reasonable distance each day, like ours, the battery can't help but stay in shape. Still, I now pop down to Battery World every six months or so to get it checked (don't want to get caught by the thing suddenly deciding that it's had it, with no warning).

Bloody hell, 30,000 miles a year!

The most amount of miles I've ever done in total on a single bike is 7000 and that was over 18 months. Although that was back when I had more than one bike.

1,000km a week in commuting. Yeah, that'll add up. I'm going to try to start putting more miles on the X. Getting jealous of you guys.

That's impressive mileage I bought the X saying I was going to ride as I did in the '80s every day. I have not done that I have owned the bike a year and a half and put 9000 on it. You guys are rock stars. I make the excuse that I have to dress for the office I have a one piece First Gear suit but then shoes I am just lazy. I know it must be a proud feeling to have put the miles in and the bike seems to have been the right choice for those long commute.  :020:

I keep two pairs of shoes at work and change into them when I get to work. Worth it. Nothing like a nice ride home to decompress after a long day.
