Still, I did meet my wife on it!!

That picture is ace! Triumph were obviously thinking long-term with a view to the burgeoning adventure bike market....just look at the mud clearance on that front guard :001:

Those are usually the ones you remember most....my very first road bike was an old Suzuki AP 50. That came in a tea chest. I tuned the nads off it with a selection of blunt files and emery cloth. With the addition of a stupidly big main jet and the noisiest micron imaginable I managed to squeeze 67 (indicated) out of it, on the flat....all good fun on square tyres  :152:

FS1Es and APs are fetching top dollar in restored nick these days...mine wasn't worth a carrot by the time I flogged it

Triumph megaphone pipes were straight through and VERY loud. I put some brass pan scourers in them to quieten it down a bit - you could see them glowing inside after a fast ride!!

Those were the days - didn't worry too much, just got on with it and rode it into the ground!!

I'm sure you can still buy brass pan scrubs from a specialist motorsport suppliers, although they'll be listed as Ultra High Temperature, non-absorbant, re-packable silencer medium

in other words....posh Brillos
